2006 Maple Open House Weekend

Last spring we were excited to host our Seventh Annual Sugar on Snow Party and Open House. During the weekend, we opened up the Sugarhouse and Maple Kitchen to the public. This year we hosted over 700 visitors during the two days – Vermont Governor Jim Douglas and his wife Dorothy even joined us on Saturday afternoon. All of our specialty foods were out for tasting, Steve's Dad was in the sugarhouse boiling and we served lots of sugar on snow! Throughout the weekend, there were several Junior Sugarmaker classes for children. Steve gave them a tour of the sugarhouse, explained how we make Maple Syrup, talked about grading maple syrup and about taking care of the forest. There were lots of hands on activities, lots of laughs and even a little quiz at the end! This year, we also served Maple Mudd Sundaes (thank you Hood Ice Cream :-) on Sunday afternoon. It was a lot of fun and we hope you can join us next year!
